Hello! My name is Jesus-Dog. I was on the original Residents Lovers forum under the same username. I'm a 21 year old girl from New York, and I'm a musician/general artist. It's nice to finally have another Rez forum again.  :)

I got interested in The Residents when I was a DJ at a college radio station in Louisiana in 1983. Listeners would sometimes request Constantinople.

Over the years, I loved The Residents appearance, back stories, crypticness, and all around weirdness. But I just didn't get the actual music. Even the live shows weren't doing it for me. Finally I went to see the Wonder of Weird show. Afterwards, I bought a couple of CDs, Coochie Brake and Ten Two Times.

Coochie Brake didn't work for me, and neither did most of Ten Two Times. When I heard the two versions of Midnight, suddenly things clicked. It was like the flicking of a switch. Suddenly, I liked all the music on Ten Two Times. I liked all the music on Coochie Brake. I went through the few records I had. I now loved all the music. Quickly, I purchased practically their entire catalog, and they became my favorite band.

I have 5 cats, my hobby is seeking weird music, and my favorite Residents record is The Bunny Boy.

I'm Dutchfan. I'm 53 YO, and live in Holland.
I know The Residents since 1981 and bought "Mark of The Mole". I liked it, but somehow found it to weird.
A few years later I also bought "Stars and Hank Forever". Loved the Hank-side of the LP, was not so sure about the Stars...

Anyways lost track of them after that, until 2010, when I heard The Ughs.
Since then the rest is history.

Dear All,

I am a Cheerful Hypocrite.

I know I was a lot younger when I first heard the Residents. I may have purchased my first Residents LP, on vinyl, from the Late Pete Burns in Probe Records on Mathew Street - opposite the Armadillo Tea Rooms. Now gone. But the Bust of Jung, with the quote about Liverpool being the Pool of Life is still there. If you are ever visiting. You can stand on a Manhole Cover. The same Cosmic Manhole Cover as Bill Drummond - 28th November 2013 - stood on and stare at the steps of Probe Records. Naturally, Probe Records is gone. Translocated elsewhere.

I suspect Pete Burns may have seen the Residents on the 29th June 1983 Royal Court in the Royal Court. Although, he was probably expecting to see them at The State. For various treasons, the venue was moved. I only suspect this because that is the date printed on the Ticket I have from the State. Where I did not go. No. Not me. Not that easily fooled. Well, I am, but not that day. I wandered to the Royal Court and saw the whole thing. Afterwards I jumped upon a bus from the bubble stops and fled the scene. Tremendously happy, as I recall it.

As a consequence of early age exposure to the Residents, I have a developed the need to sustain delusions about their various identities and so forth. This is generally harmless but completely unreliable. It has involved various people - of generally good character - from across the globe, being incited  to take part in time travel and various implausible reports.

Bunny is possibly my most sentimentally favourite. Having bribed the Box Office, in London, with Chocolates for various reasons, I do have a strange affection for the whole thing. Especially since I ended up in Cambridge. Watching all of the Bunnification Webination to date. It was an interesting few days.

Somewhere between Mole and Bunny, I acquired a slight brain injury. I did recover. I suspect I did not recover when I believed I recovered.
Not altogether reliable for facts.

Santaci, 53 and living in Scotland.

First heard 1 minute movies on the Old Grey Whistle Test, then bought Residue. Had a ticket for, but missed, the Mole Show in Edinburgh, biggest mistake of my life.

Soft spot for Bobuck sings at the moment.

Hello, you skeletons and space cadets!

I am Sebastianne, also known as Erick the Ghost.  I am a musician, historian and fortune teller from Maryland, USA.  I've been a fan of the Residents for a few years now, and have been working through the associated acts (Snakefinger, Renaldo and the Loaf, etc) ever since.  I've seen the band live once and hope to see them again.

I am currently obsessed with the Intermission album, especially the track "Would We Be Alive?".

Glad to meet you all!

hello fellow Rez-heads,

i'm mb40 (Yvan)... a life long Rez-fan here. nearly 35 years of the 51 i count i've been following their produce with joy...

other things, that rule my life, r my animals (yes... i'm an Animal Lover), collecting collectables (vinyls), going to concerts and try to have a good time where ever i am. also like to meet up with ppl i got to know trough the web!!

as for "Current favorite album(s)/project(s) from The Rz"... difficult choice... as i love storytelling i must say; River of crime or The Voice of Midnight/The Sandman waits, as a lover of instrumental music i must say; Night of the hunters or Postcards from Patmos, as a lover of strange tunes i must say; Meet The Residents or 3rd R'n'R, as a lover of live recordings i must say; The Mole show or any of the 60 Talking light shows i have here and as a general lover of anything they release i must say; Animal lover or Tweedles. as stated... a damn difficult choice to make...

hope this helps as an introduction ;)

My name is ZZaunkoenig. The 1st Z stands for Zacharias, "Zaunkoenig" means "wren", a small but very lively singer. Actually the name derives from the alliteration of the names of Duckburgh inhabitants. So blame Carl Barks on that.
I first discovered The Residents ca. at 1980 when I read an article about them in a german music magazine called "Fachblatt Musikmagazin". I heard and loved them until God in Three Persons - and then forgot them because my interests moved in another direction.
Then somehow somewhen I rediscovered them - and loved them more than ever. I had the luck to be able to buy a collection of dvds and cds from a guy on eBay. And I was able to see them two times live - first time in Hamburg at the Wonder of the Weird Show, second time in Düsseldorf at the Shadowland Tour (which was sooo great).
My favorite albums? That changes every once in a while. Maybe one of my all time favorites is River of Hades - but that is only one album. Everytime I hear an album I discover something new. That's a sign for really great music, isn't it?
I'm just listening to the Mole Show while I'm writing this. What a damn **** great show that was.
Other music I like is Frank Zappa (also discovered around 1980) and Captain Beefheart and Yes and Led Zeppelin and ... The Beatles of course ... and Fantômas (one very great band - listen to them!).

Hey folks! Nice to see a new Rz forum, I used to be quite active on Residents Lovers where I was known as lohmotiv and I was taken aback that it suddenly closed down.

I decided to go with dookybrain this time around seeing as that was the name given to me by Roger the Bunny Boy back in '09!

My favorite album is Not Available, the one I used to like the least was Voice of Midnight but eventually after a few listens it kinda grew on me. I have been dutifully collecting any and everything they put out for years now and luckily it seems the train isn't gonna stop just yet! Yay! First live show I was able to attend was Talking Light, now last week I've been to In Between Dreams in Nijmegen and I'm actually going a second time to see them in Amsterdam as well.

See you around!

Hi, I'm ADeadlyFriend but you can call me "Deadly" if you want. I'm a 20-year-old Residents fan living in a Wisconsin town you'd have never heard of if you didn't live in it, and have been fan for a year as of last September. Aside from the Residents I enjoy tokusatsu and various manga. One day I hope to publish my own comics and design monsters for Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. When it comes to my favorite RZ project, it would be easier to decide my favorite hole in a sponge, but I do love Demons Dance Alone.

Listens to music, reads post-modern & Stephen King, watches movies/DVDs/streaming media services, does crossword puzzles (ie., wastes valuable time)

The albums from 1972-1988 are all masterpieces and should be honored and/or heard by everyone in the universe at least once.

Hello everybody.
I'm Lorenzo Peyrani, 34-year-old guy from Turin, Italy. I am a writer and a musician. I am an independent researcher specialized in TS Eliot. I was a political activist, but now those days are gone. I am interested in psychoanalysis, esoterism, mathematics and philosophy.
I discovered the Residents in 2004. I was in Berlin and a human person invited me to dinner and made me listen to the Third Reich 'n Roll. I wasn't immediately convinced because of the all-covers nature of that album, but as soon as I was back in Italy I heard Duck Stab! and the Commercial Album and was forever hooked.
I had a band that was strongly influenced by the Theory of Phonetic Organisation, at least during its first, most radical, period. I have to say that I mostly love the first seven albums (Meet to Commercial), and was kind of disappointed when I saw the RZ live in 2011. I should have known that I wasn't going to listen to their 70s music, still I was naive enough to feel "betrayed". I would probably like it better today. Anyway, since that gig I rarely listenened to our dear eyeballs until the last few months, that have seen a flaming comeback. The news of Hardy Fox's death brought me back to Resident-mania, maybe to a more severe form than the ones I experienced before, a deeper trip.
I'd like to partecipate to tribute to HF if I get my **** together. I've been here for just a few days, reading the old posts, and I have to say this is a wonderful "place". CheerfulHypocrite's analysis of Not Available is what made me register. I hope to see some activity here, in the not-too-distant future.
And this is about it. I salute you.

Peyrani, la Lonza Arcobaleno
